Customer Reviews
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Great time saver   2010-02-21
By John
While this works great with 6 inches or less by its self I have used it for 2 feet of snow. With two feet of snow I used it to push the snow to edges of the driveway and then shovel a very short distance. This has cut down my avg snow shoveling from 2 hrs to 20 min. Granted with the 2 feet of snow I will have a snow blower for the future, but it sure saved me a ton of effort this year.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Great for about 4 inches of snow   2010-01-18

Living in Central NY, I get my share of snow. This is the first year of using this snow pusher and it has exceeded my expectations. Good for 4-5 inches of snow then you need a second pass... still worth it, however.

A trick for this pusher, is to kick the back of it and the snow will go flying while saving your back from actually lifting the pusher.

A good idea just stupid. Unless you live on a clif and you push your snow over it, then buy a shovel.

Purchased for my husband, BUT this is MY shovel now.
This is a great shovel for light snow, to about 3inches. I use this on our long paved driveway, makes clean-up go so fast. We did put a metal blade on the bottom of shovel, so the plastic would not wear out so fast. Thought about adding a bar 2/3 way up the handle for easier lifting, but my foot works just as well and no lifting. I also used this for our brick patio. This shovel really makes the job faster.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Next best thing to a snowblower/snowplow   2009-12-19

After 2 years of clearing our driveway with smaller standard shovels, which always seemed to take 1.5+ hours no matter how little or light the snow was, I finally caved and bought a Garant Snow Pusher in hopes that it would shorten the job. This has routinely cut my shoveling time in half, and saved my back in the process.

What I've found after one winter of clearing my driveway in southeastern PA:

If you have 3-4 inches or less of powdery snow, this will clear it with little to no effort, and the best part - no lifting! Simply start a line and push it across. More than 3-4 inches of powder and you'll start having problems with it running over the top or sides while moving across your driveway. You can still do it, but you'll have to make a second pass to clear whatever came off the shovel when you pushed it to one side.

If you're trying to clear wetter slushy snow, this can handle 2 inches without a lot of trouble, but then you start having issues with the pile being too heavy to move.

For light snow it's a no brainer. Use this shovel and you're good to go.
For heavier or wetter snows, you have two choices:
Option A: Shovel your driveway every few hours and stay ahead of it getting to be too much to easily push. This shovel makes clearing the driveway so easy that I usually pick this option unless it means shoveling at 3AM.
Option B: Get a Suncast snow scoop (Suncast SF1850 22-Inch Big Scoop Snow Shovel with Wear Strip) and use it for the bigger, heavier jobs. It's not as fast as the snow pusher, but it definitely does a better job at handling the heavier snowfalls.

I can't comment on the long term reliability of this product yet, having only used it for a single season, but it still looks as good as new after clearing my driveway multiple times last year, and has already more than paid for itself. If and when it finally breaks, I'll buy another in a heartbeat and still feel like I got a great deal.
