Customer rating is 5 of 5  Love, Love, Love the K3   2010-09-09
By Thirdseason
I love the K3 ( bought in graphite ).... i was a little disapointed when i ordered the K2 on July 27th then less then a week later they announced the release the the K3, but that's ok I kept K2 and will be gifting it.

So i preordered the K3, I'am giving 5 stars, I love the darker lettering (contrast) compared to K2 and I love the 50% smaller, and the screen size is the same. It is kind of a shame alot of the 1 star reviews are those of who haven't got their kindle yet, patients is a virture... this I have learned on waiting a month for this!

The buttons are kind of small and the 5 way is a little tricky only b/c it's small as well but I've learned to use the edge of my thumb, and no problems at all. I've also noticed that when I (not always ) read a book and i'm unsure of the word and i try to use the dictionary feature it fades in and out for a second then the defination will come through.. I'm sure nothing an upgrade can't fix, or even a reset. As i just got this on Sept. 7th. Thats the only issue i've had.

It works like a charm. I also bought the lighted amazon cover... love it! Was hesitant about it. But the light isn't noticable when not in use, and when it is in use it pulls out easy, and i never relized how much eyestrain i was putting in with out it. Thanks Amazon for creating a winner! ( And the price really isnt that bad! You'd be paying more if not the same for the light and the cover seperate! Just do you home work! ) Needless to say. This was a good purchase and a great upgrade to the Kindle.

I've compared in buying other e-book reader's and honeslty Amazon has a good thing going.
Customer rating is 1 of 5  HARD TO USE IF YOU NEVER RECEIVE IT.   2010-09-09

What a bunch of BS. You ship me the cover/light for the kindle but will not even give me a delivery date for the device.
Customer rating is 1 of 5  I really want to love this Kindle BUT   2010-09-09
By Enjaume (New York)
I owned a Kindle 2 about six months ago but returned it because it wouldn't sync and crashed too often. Amazon were very nice about the return which was easy for a full refund. When Kindle 3 was announced I pre-ordered the wi-fi plus 3G model which arrived on time and I was delighted BUT on day one it rebooted itself several times so I decided to keep a diary. On day two it froze when using the dictionary. Day three it froze when downloading a book sample. Days four and five no problem. Day six I could not open one book so had to delete it and re-download. Same day while on web browser it froze again. Day seven the dictionary would not work (when placing cursor to left of any word) and the Kindle rebooted by itself but the dictionary still did not function. I tried to open the dictionary on the home page but got message that this was not possible and to delete and download again. Kindle would not let me do this but suddenly it rebooted by itself and things were temporarily back to normal. Day eight it froze and rebooted when trying to enter a word for a search in the dictionary. Day nine TODAY I tried to open a book, failed and Kindle rebooted itself five times. Tried to open another book which did open OK so I went back to the original book and tried to delete it but that was still not possible. Then my archived items showed as zero when last night they were 15 !!! I held down power and home buttons for about 30 seconds and things seem back to "normal" for the time being !
Where do I go from here ? When it is working my Kindle 3 is a delight but I see no other option than to return it (and the case) for a refund.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Excellent fit for purpose   2010-09-09

Recieved my Kindle on the day stated it would arrive. Once connected to my WiFi the Kindle seemlessly downloaded books and I was reading in seconds after each download. Great how it remembers each page last read in a book and the easy reference links to the dictionary which came with the Kindle. Have added map pdf's through the USB link for quick trail map display while hiking, it's size and weight is good to put in a day pack or large pocket. The beta format web browser is also good if a little slow. All in all a worthy purchase.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Kindle & iPad - Don't compare apples & oranges   2010-09-09
By Simanta
I got the Kindle 3 yesterday & it's an absolute delight. I almost stayed awake the whole night exploring it & enjoying the reading experience. If you are a voracious reader & you enjoy the company of books as dearly as a teenage boy does his X-Box then this is "The" device for you. Light-weight, small dimensions, aesthetic appeal, high contrast & intuitive controls make it stand head & shoulders above the rest. With a price to die for, the Kindle 3 is certainly a e-reader-killer. Bottomline - I won't be surprised if the category gets renamed as Kindle much the same way Xerox for photocopying.

I keep hearing a lot of comparison between Kindle & iPad. I find that extremely annoying. It's like comparing apples with oranges, almost literally. I am a big fan of everything Apple. Both iPad & Kindle are revolutionary devices. But they are 2 completely different devices & to compare them would reflect nothing but naivety. iPad is a revolutionary way to browse the web, watch movies, listen to music, play games & "also" read books. The all important word is "also". The Kindle 3 is all about books, books & books. Of course it can do much more than that but the primary function is giving you the best reading experience at a great price.

So iPad & Kindle can certainly co-exist in the hands & minds of the customers. At the moment it's the Kindle which is in my hand inviting me to a vicarious world.
