Customer rating is 4 of 5  BATTERY TESTER   2010-07-20
By MR. C
A LITTLE HARD TO MAKE BATTERY CONTACT BUT WORKS AFTER YOU GET USE TO IT. PRICE RIGHT - UNKNOWN HOW ACCURATEOF A TEST IT IS SINCE THE BATTERY IS NOT UNDER LOAD. USED IT & CAN TELL BAD OR MARGINAL BATTERIES RIGHT AWAY - FOR THE PRICE A GOOD BUY

Customer rating is 1 of 5  Does *not* load test batteries - Buy a load tester.   2010-03-12
By C. A. Benson
I bought this product to test rechargeable batteries for my camera, wireless mouse, etc.

Although the batteries were nearly depleted, this tester still detected voltage and indicated that the batteries were "GOOD".

This tester doesn't detect *how much* remaining charge is in the battery. It just detects if *any* charge is left in the battery.

Do you want to go out with 1/2 charged batteries and not know it? Check the specifications on battery testers to make sure they put a sample load on the battery. That provides a clear indication of remaining battery life.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Great Little Battery Tester   2010-02-03
By John Wilcox (Central NY, USA)
I started using the Mastech BT558 Self-powered Battery Tester the day I received it, and after testing more than fifty AA, AAA, D-cell, 9-volt, and button-type batteries, I found it to be accurate as well as simple and quick to use.
Customer rating is 5 of 5  Had two of these for over 20 years   2010-01-16
By Sylvia L. Hayes (Redford, MI USA)
I originally bought these at a hardware chain in Detroit over 20 years ago. One of them just broke and because we keep one down the basement and one upstairs we want to get another. As far as not being accurate goes I found that it isn't the battery checker that is the problem it is the gadget or whatever you are needing to replace the batteries in. For instance in my Nikon camera, when it just drains a small amount it is enough to make the camera not work. I got frustrated with this happening so now I put those batteries aside since they only show a slight drain and use them in clocks a small portable radios I use around the house. They live forever in those cases, but the camera and our treadmills go through a lot of batteries that aren't really bad. These checkers are handy no two ways about it. I am going to buy at least one more from Amazon.
