My BMW has terrible cup holders. In fact, they are a total joke for practical use. But this adapter has made one of them incredibly useful! In my situation, one lighter outlet is used for a bluetooth headset dock, and one USB port is used for a short USB cable to charge my phone. FYI, using a USB cable instead of a large coiled car charger makes for a much more efficient use of space. So now I have an additional USB outlet and lighter outlet available for when my wife needs to simultaneously charge her phone, or my son wants to plug in his portable gaming device. My only complaint is that the wire is surprisingly long. IMO, they could have slightly increased the height of the housing in order to allow for a retractable cable. But it's not a terrible pain to hide the wire.

I'll make this short and to the point. I've had the item for about two weeks and it preforms flawlessly. Love the convenience of charging my phone, or anything that charges with a USB port, as well as doubling the standard car electricity plug-in. Best product out there for its intended use. Ordering a second one now!
Not enough power for an iPad   2010-07-02

It's well-made & etc., however I give it only four stars because it was needed for charging an iPad (which was being used for GPS and music) during a road trip, but it only kept it from draining as I went, i.e. it was at 78% when I started and this maintained that level. Nothing else was plugged in. Using the same USB cable with a different adapter provided enough current to take it up to 100% and keep it there. No doubt it's an excellent choice for most things, but the 'pad appears to draw more power than this provides.

I picked this up on a whim, needing an extra outlet to plug my Droid into while using the navigation feature. I probably should have thought it through first, since I drive stick and my cup holders are located on my console behind the shifter. When I use this, I have one cord running back from the ash tray in the dash to the cup holder and two running back to the dash. They can be a bit annoying in traffic, so I tend to only use this setup on longer trips. Aside from that, no complaints, this does exactly what it promises, it's probably just better suited for an SUV or minivan with cup holders in the dash.
